Restylane in New York City with
Dr. Shridharani

Q: What is Restylane?

The Restylane family of dermal fillers are composed of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and can be used to add volume and fullness to the face as well as to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. These folds include:

  • Lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds or laugh lines)
  • Lines just below the nose and above the upper lip (smokers or kissers lines)
  • Corners of the mouth (sad face lines)
  • Marionette lines (the area that extends downward from the corners of the mouth to the jawline)
Q: What is Restylane made of?
Restylane was the first cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a biodegradable and fully biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid. Restylane has a variety of products that vary in HA molecule size to specially treat different areas of the face.

The procedure only takes Dr. Shridharani a matter of minutes (20-30 depending on the areas that need to be contoured).

Q: What can I expect after my injection?
After your injection, you should expect a little bit of swelling and slight redness, which seems to resolve/go away in the matter of hours. Avoiding heavy exercise, salty foods, alcohol, and sleeping face down will help avoid excessive swelling.

Q: How long does it last?
Six to nine months.
Q: Can Restylane be injected at the same time as Botox or related neuromodulator?
Yes! Restylane in combination with Botox, which is not always necessary, can lead to fantastic results. Schedule an injectable consultation to see what is recommend for you.
Q: Will Restylane interfere with my facial expressions and give me a frozen appearance?
No, Restylane does not interfere with muscle contraction. It will smooth out wrinkles while allowing your muscles to interact normally.
