Q: What is Restylane?
The Restylane family of dermal fillers are composed of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and can be used to add volume and fullness to the face as well as to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. These folds include:
- Lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds or laugh lines)
- Lines just below the nose and above the upper lip (smokers or kissers lines)
- Corners of the mouth (sad face lines)
- Marionette lines (the area that extends downward from the corners of the mouth to the jawline)
Q: What is Restylane made of?
Restylane was the first cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a biodegradable and fully biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid. Restylane has a variety of products that vary in HA molecule size to specially treat different areas of the face.
