Hydrafacial in NYC

Everyone loves a facial. They’re so relaxing and soothing. But more aggressive facial that exfoliate your skin and clear pores can leave your face red and sensitive.

At Luxurgery, we have a better solution, a solution that’s taken the aesthetic world by storm. It’s called HydraFacial MD, and your face will love it!

What is HydraFacial MD?

HydraFacial MD® is hydradermabrasion. We know — that sounds like something dreamed up over on Madison Avenue, but it actually is a thing. It combines deep cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and antioxidant delivery simultaneously in a four-step process. The treatment delivers some amazing improvements in your skin, all in a relaxing, painless 30 minutes.

Is the HydraFacial safe for sensitive skin?

At Luxurgery we’re huge fans of the HydraFacial MD® because it’s great for all skin types. Even the most sensitive skin easily tolerates these treatments. We adjust the serums delivered in the third phase of every HydraFacial MD® to specifically match your skin type, and this includes sensitive skin types.

Does a HydraFacial help with acne scarring?

HydraFacials are effective for treating acne outbreaks and the clogged pores behind them. They aren’t as effective for treating acne scarring, although with the skin improving boosters, they are bound to improve things overall.

Still, at Luxurgery we offer other treatments, such as microneedling and various chemical peels, that would be more effective for specifically addressing acne scarring.

What are the benefits for my skin with a HydraFacial MD?

Your face loves our HydraFacial MD® treatments because they not only resurface the skin to provide cleansing, exfoliation, and extraction, but at the same time they bathe the newly revealed skin with serums of hyaluronic acid, peptides, and hyaluronic acids.

"Had the best experience with Dr. S and his amazing staff. From beginning to end, he was super informative and made me feel comfortable with getting my procedure. The bedside manner was top notch. They truly make you feel like part of the Luxurgery family there."

I’ve found extractions to be painful. Why isn’t that the case with a HydraFacial MD?

We’ve all gone in for a facial expecting the ultimate relaxation. And then comes the extractions. Ouch! Your “relaxing” facial has now become akin to medieval torture, and the next day your skin is red and angry.

That’s nothing like what happens during a HydraFacial MD® at Luxurgery. It combines the workhorse skin improvements of microdermabrasion and chemical peels, plus the vortex pressure clears your pores — without the suffering! By combining the vortex pressure with a clog-purging solution of salicylic acid, willow bark extract, and anti-inflammatory Tasmanian pepper, the handpiece suctions the junk from your pores effectively without squeezing, pressure, and pain. You can actually see everything that’s has been removed from your pores if you would like to.

What areas of the face can a HydraFacial be done on?

We cover the entire face with your HydraFacial MD®. After all, what area of your facial skin doesn’t deserve its awesome combination of hydration and extraction without the inflammation?

Who is a good candidate for a HydraFacial at Luxurgery?

Many skin treatments, such as laser resurfacing and chemical peels, can cause hyperpigmentation issues with certain skin tones. Even facials, which seem so calming, can leave your skin red and sensitive, especially with manual exfoliations.

But HydraFacial MD® is suitable for all skin types, including thinning, aging skin and dry or oily skin. Even if you have sensitive skin that erupts after a typical facial extraction session, it won’t overreact to a HydraFacial. Plus, once the exfoliation and extraction are complete, HydraFacial delivers different serums into your skin that target your specific skin type and specific skin problems.

These are skincare problems we target at Luxurgery with HydraFacial MD®:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Elasticity and firmness
  • Uneven tone
  • Brown spots
  • Oily, congested skin
  • Enlarged pores

Can I have a HydraFacial if I am on Isotretinoin?

It is not advised for anyone on Accutane (Isotretinoin) to have any skin treatments of any kind until at least six months after their course of Accutane has been completed. The reason for this is that Accutane thins the skin as its way of decreasing acne, and any suction or peeling of the skin can lead to scarring and additional skin issues.

Once you are off Accutane for at least six months you can then have a HydraFacial MD® at Luxurgery.

Is there any preparation for my HydraFacial MD?

There isn’t anything you need to do to prepare for your HydraFacial MD® at Luxurgery.

How is a HydraFacial done?

At Luxurgery, our HydraFacial MD® treatment is a four-step process that cleanses, evenly exfoliates, and extracts impurities and dead skin cells while at the same time replenishing vital nutrients including antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid.

The treatment is delivered through a proprietary wand that combines a gentle rotating brush with suction pressure. This takes the place of the crystals sprayed on with microdermabrasion or manually applied chemicals in a peel. HydraFacial MD® gently vacuums out your pores, while pushing in skin-improving serums.

This is what happens in your 30-minute HydraFacial at our beautiful 5th Avenue offices:

Step 1 — Vortex-Exfoliation

We attach the first head that uses Activ-4 serum and suction to remove surface dead skin cells and open and clear pores. This uncovers the brighter, healthier skin beneath.

Step 2 — Vortex-Peel

In step two, through the wand we apply Glysal serum, which consists of a mixture of glycolic and salicylic acids, the ingredients used for light peels. But this peel won’t have the usual post-peel scaling.

Step 3 — Vortex-Extraction

In step three, the wand applies patented, painless vortex-suction that cleans out pores with the help of Beta-HD serum.

Step 4 — Vortex-Fusion

Now that your skin is thoroughly cleaned and exfoliated, in step four we apply one of four Antiox+ serums (see below) through the wand. This serum application is the final step of the HydraFacial and replenishes your skin with antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid.

Our serums are tailored to your specific skincare needs

An awesome feature of the HydraFacial MD® is that it can be varied depending on your specific skin type. After cleaning and exfoliation, the HydraFacial MD® procedure infuses various serums to replenish your skin. We offer four different serums, depending on your unique skin needs.

  • Brightalive Booster Serum — Designed to brighten skin tone and lessen the appearance of discoloration.
  • Growth Factor Boost — Contains naturally occurring proteins specifically designed to restore skin health, which helps diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Dermabuilder Boost — Designed to effectively address fine lines, skin tone evenness, and texture.
  • Britenol Boost — Specially formulated to target dark spots and sun-damaged areas.

Is the HydraFacial painful and is there any downtime?

We’ve all had manual exfoliations done with a facial. Um. Ouch! Plus, those extractions often leave the skin red and sensitive for a day or so. Other exfoliation procedures, such as chemical peels, can leave the skin dry and sensitive.

With HydraFacial MD®, there is none of that. The procedure is relaxing and painless. And there isn’t any recovery time. The HydraFacial is completely non-invasive.

"“Dr. Shridharani is a phenomenal doctor. From the moment you walk into his facility you feel at ease. His staff is extremely warm and welcoming. Dr. Shridharani took the time to get to know me and understand what my goals were. He is not pushy and extremely knowledgable and makes you feel comfortable. I always leave his office feeling great about myself!”"

Is there recovery after a HydraFacial MD?

Our Luxurgery patients love the fact that these awesome treatments don’t get in the way of their active lives. HydraFacial MD® is a fast, efficient treatment that only takes around 30 minutes. Afterward, you can put on makeup and return to work or your other normal activities immediately. There isn’t a minute of downtime.

What kind of results will I see from a HydraFacial at Luxurgery?

The HydraFacial delivers vastly improved hydration while helping to eliminate or lessen the appearance of fine lines, hyperpigmentation, oil and congestion, and even creases in the nasolabial folds. Despite involving a light chemical peel and pore extraction, the procedure has no pain — it actually is a pleasant spa-like experience — and doesn’t have the usual redness and irritation that follows most peels/exfoliations. You’ll notice visible improvement after just a single HydraFacial, but we have patients come in for a monthly HydraFacial to keep their skin looking and feeling its best. You’ll see what your skin wants.

How long will my results last after my HydraFacial?

Our HydraFacials create visible skin refinement and an even, radiant skin tone. The increased hydration and smooth skin last from 5 to 7 days, but your skin improvement endures. This is especially true if you opt to have a monthly HydraFacial.

What steps can I take to prolong the positive improvements made with my HydraFacial?

At Luxurgery, your skincare expert will detail things you can do to keep your skin looking its best all the time. Those will be specific pieces of advice on skincare products such as exfoliators, cleansers, and other tips.

But you can generally break down what you can do in time increments:

  • Annually — Once every year you need to see a board-certified dermatologist to screen your skin for skin cancer.
  • Monthly — We advise our Luxurgery patients that monthly HydraFacials are a great time frame. The goal is to have professional treatment to deeply cleanse, extract, and hydrate the skin.
  • Daily and weekly — We can advise you on products and steps to take on a daily and weekly basis. These include using a quality facial cleanser morning and night, moisturizing twice daily, and exfoliating with a mask or scrub once each week.
  • All the time — Wear sunscreen of 30+ SPF, drink lots of water, eat great food, and don’t smoke.
