Dysport and Xeomin in New York City with Dr. Shridharani
What is Dysport?
Dysport treats moderate to severe frown lines by reducing specific muscle activity. Wrinkles and creases are caused by repeated movements and muscle contractions, which means they can even develop in younger adults. Dysport temporarily prevents muscle contractions that cause frown lines, leaving the rest of your face to move naturally.
What is Xeomin?
Xeomin is a neuromodulator that blocks the release of chemicals that cause muscle contractions causing frown lines to soften. Xeomin can temporarily improve the appearance of both mild to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead, and crow’s feet. Xeomin can also be used to soften the lines around the mouth, chin, and neck.
How long do Dysport and Xeomin last?
Every patient is different depending on his or her metabolism of Dysport or Xeomin. Most patients find their injections last around 3-4 months. Certain patients metabolize faster than others leaving them with the effects for 2-3 months, while others have the amazing benefit for up to 6 months. Over time Dysport and Xeomin can fatigue the muscle allowing for less movement after the Dysport wears off, allowing more time between injections.
How long does it take for the effects to kick in after injection?
You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines. It takes about 7-10 days to see maximal results from Dysport and Xeomin.
Can Dysport and Xeomin be used to treat excessive sweating?
Yes! Botulinum toxin type A has been shown to decrease sweating and excessive underarm sweating. Many patients find that they are very pleased with decreased sweating after injections during the summer months and they decide to continue the injections year round.
