Dr. Sachin M. Shridharani’s Book
When we wrote this book, we had these special kids with their special smiles in mind. The journey they experience to change their appearance due to functional problems can be perilous for them and their families. We also praise the unending love that parents have for their child, which leads them to sacrifice weeks of wages, to suffer separation from their other children, and to make grueling voyages in order to help the child. We hope this book will make any child’s understanding of having a cleft or knowing someone who does a more positive one.

Wrinkle City: New Yorkers join national push toward cosmetic procedures, state tops for wrinkles
New Yorkers are the most wrinkled people in the country, according to a recent study. And like other Americans, we increasingly take advantage of available cosmetic procedures.
“Even though we don’t think of New York as being one of these super-sunny places, we spend a lot of time walking outside,” says Dr. Sachin Shridharani, a Fifth Ave. plastic surgeon. “And even though we are not out there with the aluminum foil (reflector) catching the rays, we don’t think about how much exposure we get to U.V.”…
What You Need To Know About Lip Augmentation Before You Jump
Safe ways to have “kissable” lips whether you are in your 20’s or 80’s are first and foremost to pucker up and embrace your own natural lips. If you insist on having fuller and plumper lips, then the safe way to approach this would be to have an experienced plastic surgeon or dermatologist inject a hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler like Belotero, Juvederm Ultra, or Restylane Silk. The procedure generally takes around 15-30 minutes and is done in the comfort of the office. My [Sachin M. Shridharani] patients routinely have this done on a lunch break, after work, or on a Saturday before heading out for the rest of their day…
What’s Happening to Women’s Faces?
“There are more FDA-approved fillers on the market than ever,” says Sachin Shridharani, MD, a Manhattan-based plastic surgeon, referring to products like Juvederm Voluma, Restylane Silk, and Belotero Balance.
In the right hands, fillers are generally safe and increasingly less of a commitment. Certain older collagen versions required allergy testing (as they were made with animal by-products), and liquid silicone (which has never been FDA approved for cosmetic purposes) is permanent. But today, most fillers are made with hyaluronic acid, a natural compound that usually dissolves between 6 and 12 months. “It’s the gold standard,” says Dr. Shridharani…
Sachin M. Shridharani: NYC Plastic Surgeon
If you combine a luxurious five-star experience with innovative aesthetic surgery, you get ‘luxurgery,’ and this is why Sachin M. Shridharani, MD chose this as the name of his Manhattan practice.

Is This Holiday Season’s ‘It’ Gift Cosmetic Surgery?
I [Sachin Shridharani, M.D.] sit in the consultation room of Luxurgery on Fifth Avenue in New York City. I am having a thoughtful discussion with my patient about her desire to undergo a facelift. She mentions to me she wants a natural look and does not want to look “like I just got out of a wind tunnel.” I chuckle with her and her husband who is there for support. An interesting shift occurs in the conversation. “What about you, honey? Anything you want to show the doctor?” she says to her quietly observant husband….

A Beginner’s Guide to Non-Invasive Beauty Procedures
Kybella is a brand-new, FDA-approved injectable that does away with the double chin easily and with no downtime. Kybella is a non-human, non-animal derived version of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring material, found in all of us that helps breakdown fat and absorb it. It is injected into the neck and over the next three to four weeks, the acid breaks down the fat. “It is one of the most exciting offerings we have had in a while,” says Dr. Sachin M. Shridharani, who owns the NYC practice Luxurgery (800A 5th Ave.). “What this injectable does under the chin is wonderful, and the off-label possibilities are also pretty amazing.”
Inside The Seasonality of Plastic Surgery
The brisk temps make this time of year the perfect season for Kybella, the world’s first fat dissolving injection. The injectable received its FDA approval nearly six month ago for permanently reducing the appearance of the double chin. Allergan (makers of Botox and Juvederm) completed the acquisition just days ago of Kythera, the former parent company of Kybella, and expects to increase awareness of this permanent fat reducer and its capabilities in the ensuing month.
For more information contact Dr. Shridharani at Luxurgery located at 800A Fifth Avenue (street level).
How Kybella Can Perk Up A Sagging Profile
Here’s what you need to know: Kybella is the first FDA-approved injectable that dissolves fat.
You heard us: dissolves fat! The injectable is made of deoxycholic acid, which destroys fat cells under the chin and leaves the skin substantially tighter and more contoured. That means that once the fat is gone, there’s no fear of droopy skin.
Dr. Sachin Shridharani, chief surgeon at Luxurgery, was the first plastic surgeon in NYC/Manhattan who offered Kybella to treat the double chin to improve overall jawline contour.
Cryolipolysis in review
A recently released review of published studies on the use of cryolipolysis for body contouring reports on the efficacy and safety of this relatively new procedure.
According to the review, many anecdotal reports extol the efficacy of cryolipolysis, but the majority of studies are small, retrospective case-series that lack control groups. The authors — Chase D. Derrick, M.D., of the University of Missouri’s division of plastic surgery, Justin M. Broyles, M.D., of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and New York plastic surgeon Sachin M. Shridharani, M.D. — set out to systematically review available literature to better illustrate the procedure’s safety and efficacy.
Men in suits are lining up to have their double chins removed
“Forty percent of my [Kybella] patients are men. On some days, it’s even more men than women,” says Dr. Sachin Shridharani, an Upper East Side-based plastic surgeon who has treated 30 patients, with Kybella since its June 15 release. “
Treatment For Keratosis Pilaris
What the MD says
Sachin Shridharani, MD, a plastic surgeon based in New York City, confirmed that my strategy was on the right track, since incorporating both physical and chemical exfoliation and moisturizing skin on a regular basis is essential. Dry skin worsens KP because keratin, the protein that forms the scaly plug, blocks hair follicles, Shridharani explains. But the products I use aren’t the only route to smoother skin.
Navin K. Singh, assistant professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery at the School of Medicine, estimates he has operated on more than 500 children as part of volunteer medical missions to correct cleft palates, lips, and noses.
Hoping to bolster the kids’—and their parents’—spirits and make them feel less different and alone, he and Johns Hopkins Hospital plastic surgery resident Sachin M. Shridharani have co-authored a slender book titled Special Smiles: The Journey of Three Amazing Children.
CALL TO CAUSE
An assistant professor of plastic surgery at Johns Hopkins University with his own private practice, Dr. Navin Singh of Washingtonian Plastic Surgery knows a lot about improving appearances. He also knows a lot about improving the lives of children in need. Singh, along with fellow Johns Hopkins plastic surgeon Sachin Shridharani, wrote a book called Special Smiles, whose proceeds benefit Operation Smile, a charity devoted to helping children with cleft lips and palates.

Another UMKC medical school student, Sachin Shridharani, investigated various lifestyle specialties and also considered training in internal medicine like his father, a cardiologist in Warrensburg.Ultimately, though, Shridharani opted for the long hours and high intensity associated with reconstructive plastic surgery.

He seized one of only 88 available plastic surgery residency spots in the nation for students fresh out of medical school. Shridharani is the second student in UMKC’s history to be accepted into the ultra-competitive program at Johns Hopkins.
“It’s the most fulfilling academic achievement I’ve ever had,” he said.
