What is Juvederm?
The Juvederm collection of fillers is made from hyaluronic acid (HA). HA a natural substance in the skin that delivers nutrients, helps the skin retain moisture and softness, and adds volume. As we age we begin to lose the amount of HA found in our skin. Each product in the Juvederm collection of fillers is made from a modified form of HA, which makes each product specific for you. Juvederm is made by Allergan (makers of Botox and Kybella)
What can Juvederm be used for?
Juvederm is used for injection for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Juvederm has medium sized molecules of HA that work well for the smile lines or nasolabial folds.
Juvederm Ultra is used for injection into the lips and perioral area for lip augmentation. Juvederm Ultra has the smaller sized molecules of HA that are perfect for the very fine lines without leaving any lumps or bumps behind.
Juvederm Ultra Plus is used for injection into the smile lines (nasolabial folds/creases) and midface/cheekbone area. Juvederm Ultra Plus has larger sized molecules of HA that are perfect for the deeper lines and creases, which allows for structural integrity and hold.
What is Juvederm Voluma?
Juvederm Voluma is used for deep injection in the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss around the cheekbones. The goal for perfect results is to restore three key areas: the arch of the “cheek bones,” apple of the cheek, and mid-face hollow. Patients also find that when Voluma is added to these areas to increase volume that the smile lines (nasolabial folds) begin to soften as well. Voluma has larger sized molecules of HA to fill in the hollow areas with still giving a very natural look.
Am I a candidate for Juvederm Voluma?
You may be a candidate for Juvederm Voluma if you find that your cheeks have a flattened look, your face is hollowing, or your smile lines are deepening. Also, many younger patients in their 20-30s find that genetically they have a hollow face or flattened cheeks. Voluma adds volume beneath the skin’s surface to lift and contour the cheek area leaving a very natural look.
