What it is? An Injectable recently approved by the FDA to get rid of submental fat. How it works? During two treatments over seceral weeks (or four, for those with more fat in the area), Injections of the active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, destroy fat cells below the jawline. (One Session could involve 25-30 injections.) Results? Depending on the amount of fat, you may see improvement after one visit. Expect best (permanent) results after two to four sessions. Downtime? “you may have temporary swelling, which often lessens with each treatment; bruising is also possible,” says N.Y.C. plastic surgeon Dr. Sachin M. Shridharani.
