Minimally Invasive Procedures in New York City with Dr. Shridharani

The future of aesthetic medicine is here. For years, the only way to make substantial improvements to one’s face and body was with surgery. The advent of laser technology, cryolipolysis (freezing fat PERMANENTLY), Botox, dermal fillers, and Kybella (injectable permanent fat destruction) has changed the way we treat patients. Preventative measures are now used, so one can put off major surgery. We can alter the contour areas of the body and face with little downtime.

When performed safely and in experienced hands, these minimally invasive treatments can make a major positive difference. At LUXURGERY, we are proud to offer the latest techniques and technology to help you achieve your goals with beautiful and natural results

Botulinum Toxin (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin)

Botox Cosmetic is the only FDA-approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both mild-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabella) and crow’s feet in adults. Botox can also be used to soften the lines and creases on the forehead, around the mouth, chin, and neck. Learn more about Botox here.

CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is FDA-approved, safe and effective. CoolSculpting is a non-surgical fat reduction technology that gently and effectively targets the fat cells underneath the skin while leaving the skin itself unaffected. CoolSculpting works by freezing fat cells, causing these cells to crystallize and permanently die. The cells are naturally processed by the body and ultimately expelled. Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a class of injectables approved to temporarily improve volume in the midface, cheekbone area, nasolabial creases, lips, marionette lines, smile lines, kisser’s lines, temporal hollows and other areas of the face. Read more about your dermal filler options here.

MINT Lift

The MINT Lift is Dr. Shridharani’s non-surgical approach to neck rejuvenation. MINT is actually an acronym for “Minimally Invasive Neck Tightening”. The procedure is a combination of various non-surgical treatments to improve the contour of the neck and jawline. Body Contouring

What Is Non-Invasive Body Contouring?

Body contouring is the practice in plastic surgery of reshaping the body. With weight gain, various parts of the body preferentially gain fat deposits. Where these deposits form is based on your gender, genetics, and a host of other factors. Traditionally, the way to treat these deposits is through so-called invasive surgical techniques such as body lifts, tummy tucks, or liposuction.

Now, with advances in technology, fat and other tissue deposits can be treated in other ways that don’t involve making cuts on the body and therefore involve less downtime and a quicker recovery. These non-invasive methods include injections of chemicals or the application of heat or cold in kill fat cells without injuring the overlying skin.

Who A Good Candidate For Non-Invasive Body Contouring?

The ideal patients are individuals with mild to moderate amounts of fat deposited in the respective treatment area. This often is accompanied by complaints or thoughts of said fat creating an unaesthetic contouring of the area.

When we gain weight, the skin and other tissues grow as well. In certain patients this will need to be addressed through a surgery to remove the excess skin and tissue. Consulting with a board certified plastic surgery is the best way to determine which you may be a candidate for.

Are There Any Advancements In The Technology?

Yes! There are more new and exciting techniques to improve the body’s appearance than ever without having to undergo anesthesia or have a surgical procedure. For example, Kybella was approved by the FDA in 2015 to destroy subcutaneous fat cells accumulating under the chin, creating the appearance of a double-chin. Kybella is a synthetic version of the naturally occurring deoxycholic acid (a molecule found in your gastrointestinal tract working to metabolize fat).

This treatment permanently destroys fat and tightens the skin surrounding the treatment area. Due to some new research, Dr. Shridharani has been involved in, Kybella is now considered safe to be injected in a variety of areas apart from the submental/chin region, i.e. arms, abdomen, and outer thighs to improve the overall contour.

Popular Non-Surgical Body Contouring Procedures

SculpSure & CoolSculpt

  • Both CoolSculpt and SculpSure treat fat by changing the temperature of the fat and killing the cells. CoolSculpt, as the name implies, cools the fat while SculpSure uses laser technology waves to heat the fat. Like all non-invasive approaches, it will require multiple treatments to get the best result. You will start seeing results after a few weeks, and final results to be seen months after treatment.

EMSCULPT

  • This is a relatively new product that uses electrical stimulation to cause muscle contractions and therefore simulate intense exercise in that area. It’s current FDA clearance is for the abdomen and buttocks. These treatment does not affect fat deposits, rather it claims to be able to firm and tone the underlying muscles.

TruSculpt

  • TruSculpt or TruSculpt 3D is part of the family of non-invasive body contouring techniques. This technique uses temperature changes to kill the fat below the skin. We use radiofrequency waves to the fat enough to kill the cells but won’t harm the skin. Compared to CoolSculpt, we use the TruSculpt hand piece to treatment almost any area of the body. Again, like the other techniques, multiple treatments may be necessary. You may need a consultation with a certified provider to determine what’s the best approach for you.
