How Eyelid Surgery Helps Men Look More Rested and Approachable

Close-up of a man's eye showing under-eye puffiness and lower eyelid bags, a common concern addressed with male blepharoplasty For many men, heavy eyelids and under-eye bags can make them look tired or less friendly. These changes start to show up in the late 30s or 40s and gradually become more noticeable with age. If this sounds like you, then eyelid surgery may be worth considering.

At LUXURGERY in New York City, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Sachin M. Shridharani performs eyelid surgery for men. His goal is to enhance your appearance without changing the character of your face.

What Eyelid Surgery Can Do

The biggest complaints men usually have are heavy upper lids and puffiness under the eyes. That extra skin and fullness can weigh your eyes down and make you look worn-out, even when you feel fine.

Eyelid surgery (technically called blepharoplasty) removes that excess skin and fat while keeping the shape of your eyes intact. Afterwards, you’ll look sharper, more alert, and still like yourself.

How Is the Procedure Different for Men Than for Women?

Men’s eyelid surgery requires a slightly different approach from women’s. The goal isn’t to create a wide, rounded eye. It’s usually to clean up heaviness while keeping a masculine shape.

Men also tend to have thicker skin and a lower brow position than women, which affects how we map out the surgery. Dr. Shridharani takes all of this into account when coming up with your plan.

What to Expect

Eyelid surgery is often done with local anesthesia, sometimes right in the office. Whether you’re treating the upper lids, lower lids, or both will determine the setting.

Most men take about a week off from work, social plans, or anything where they’d prefer not to be seen during recovery. Swelling and bruising are usually mild and short-lived. Stitches, if needed, will come out within five to seven days.

Dr. Shridharani will walk you through clear aftercare instructions, and you should feel comfortable being out in public within a week.
