Don’t Leave your Plastic Surgery Consultation to an App!
- Posted on: Mar 15 2016
In the modern day, there seems to be an app for everything. Smartphones have changed the way we read, work, shop, and, apparently, the way we decide on cosmetic surgery procedures. Yes, believe it or not, you can now upload an image of yourself into software on your phone to virtually alter your appearance. While this may be entertaining, is it really a way to find out if plastic surgery is right for you?
The Downfall of False Hope
Here’s the thing about plastic surgery apps: they do not give you an accurate depiction of what you could look like with a nose job or other procedure. Because your app will provide you with an image of your potential future self, there is a very real risk that you will have an entirely false perception. When your hopes become too high after using an app, your board-certified, experienced surgeon may have a difficult time satisfying your expectations.
What’s the Harm in a Little Fun?
Plastic surgery apps may give you a good time. They can be highly entertaining and even intriguing. However, an app is no substitute for a face to face consultation with a specifically trained physician who can assess your tissue, bone structure, and other characteristics and match them to your desired outcome.
Getting the Facts you Need
Apps can be fun, but we prefer to meet with our patients in person. During consultation visits, we get to know your concerns and we discuss your aesthetic goals. It is here where the fulfillment of your expectations begins, not in the operating room. Your collaboration with a trained physician goes so far beyond what is possible with an app, no matter how glitzy or sophisticated, that it is the only way we believe you can get the information you need to make the most educated decision about your cosmetic care.
If you are considering changing something about your appearance, it is expert advice that you are after, not a virtual Before and After image. Let the team at LUXURGERY© lead you to your best self. Schedule a consultation in our New York City practice at (212) 508-0000.
