Summer is Months Away, Which is Exactly Why You Should be Thinking about CoolSculpting Now!
- Posted on: Feb 14 2020
We’re at that point where many of us are dreaming of the warmer months ahead. While it can feel good just to imagine sitting on a sunny rooftop with a cool glass of prosecco, there is another aspect of summertime that may create a little more anxiety than calm. If you don’t want to face the advent of summer with concerns about saddlebags or a pot-belly, now is the prime time to schedule your CoolSculpting sessions in our NYC office.
What is CoolSculpting?
Chances are you’ve heard of CoolSculpting but aren’t quite sure what it is. This body-contouring treatment uses cutting-edge freezing technology to destroy unwanted fat cells. The concept is called cryolipolysis, the death of fat cells through freezing. When an area of fat is taken to a precise temperature, crystals form in fat cells. This crystallization tells the body that the fat cells are damaged, so the body flushes them. The process works over time to reduce fatty content by as much as 25%. Results typically peak at 3 months. If more contouring is desired, additional treatments can be undergone.
The CoolSculpting Process
CoolSculpting can be performed on the abdomen, flanks, bra area, upper arms, under the buttocks, the thighs, knees, and on male breasts. Many patients also choose CoolSculpting to eliminate double-chin fat.
The noninvasive procedure is conducted in our office. Patients lie comfortably on the treatment table in a way that provides access to the treatment area. A gel pad is applied over the skin before the CoolSculpting applicators pull tissue upward. This feels like a slight tugging sensation. The applicators are then driven to a target temperature, where they remain for 35 minutes or longer. Initially, patients can expect to feel intense cold and possibly mild tingling, aching, or cramping. Soon, tissue goes numb and the remains so for the duration of the fat-freezing process.
How Many CoolSculpting Treatments are Needed?
CoolSculpting works with the body’s natural tendencies to flush damaged cells. In general, patients can expect a reduction of up to 25% in the tissue that is pulled between the device applicators. In some cases, only one treatment is needed. However, many patients undergo 3 to 5 sessions over time to achieve optimal contours.
Now is the Best Time To Begin
When the body is left to do its work after CoolSculpting, it targets and flushes fat cells over the course of several weeks. Depending on the desired improvement, it can take up to 12 weeks to see appreciable results. It may be cold outside, but it’s still a great time for fat-freezing.
