5 Ways to Manage Aging Skin

For much of our early life, we think of wrinkles as something meant for Grandma. Although we grow up to understand that wrinkles will also someday appear on our faces, we may feel sadly surprised when they do. The thing about wrinkles, as well as other common signs of aging, is that we don’t have to wait for them to show up. There are several ways to postpone and manage the inevitable. Here, we suggest five potent ways to do that.

  1. Microneedling with PRP

Microneedling is an effective method of inducing collagen production in dormant fibroblast cells. The skin relies on collagen and elastin for firmness and stretchiness. The fibroblasts that produce these chemicals stop working around age 30. Microneedling is one way to wake them up for a short period. In our NYC office, we combine microneedling with PRP, or platelet-rich plasma. Together, technique and nutrients support the skin as it ages.

  1. Let Antioxidants Help You

You may realize that your body responds to what you consume. Healthy foods like walnuts, cranberries and blueberries, kale, and spinach provide ample amounts of antioxidants. These nutrients counteract the effects of free radicals, erratic cells that rob other cells of their regenerative energy. If necessary, find a quality antioxidant supplement that can be taken regularly.

  1. AquaGold

AquaGold® Fine Touch™ is an FDA approved micro-injection treatment that delivers a customized blend of products deep into the skin, where they wouldn’t be absorbed otherwise. The process is similar to microneedling in that the AquaGold applicator has several tiny, 24-Karat gold needles. These needles puncture the skin and also deliver various nutrients and products that are customized to achieve specific results. Treatment may introduce small amounts of Botox, dermal fillers, growth factors, and nourishing ingredients deep into the skin to correct enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, and other concerns.

  1. Botox

Botox was the first injectable product to gain FDA approval for cosmetic use. This drug is one of the most common treatments for lines and wrinkles. Known to correct frown lines, crow’s feet, worry lines, and horizontal lines on the neck, Botox can also be used preventively to postpone the onset of these wrinkles.

  1. Laser Skin Resurfacing

This beneficial treatment is often misunderstood. People imaging laser skin resurfacing as a highly ablative procedure that will obliterate the outermost layer of their skin. In recent years, laser resurfacing has evolved into a fully-customizable technique. Our device settings allow us to gently ablate the outer layer of tissue while also stimulating collagen remodeling in the dermis.

Aging begins far earlier than we can see its signs. With so many nonsurgical treatments available, there are options for every person who wants to manage their aging process beautifully. To schedule your consultation at Luxurgery in New York City, call (212) 508-0000.
